Fine Jewellers in Bath

Gold & Platinum Studio at 19 Northumberland Place is Bath’s treasured independent jewellers. The Studio is used to display our unique and beautiful pieces as well as a space where we can sit and design bespoke commissions with our clients. Above the studio is our workshop where the team of three highly skilled goldsmiths work. Creating unique engagement rings, fine jewellery and one off designs. As well as working on repairs, remodelling and valuations. Having our workshop on site means we can offer a smooth and personal experience from start to finish.

The studio is owned by renowned goldsmith and designer Michael Parsons. Michael has always been fascinated by gemstones and is a qualified gemmologist. He specialises in sourcing gemstones and crafting bespoke, one-off fine quality pieces.

Alongside the wide variety of fine jewellery made on-site we also exhibit jewellery from leading British Designers at the studio.

Here is a little bit about Michael…

He finished studies in Rochester, Kent graduating with distinction and was awarded a licentiateship from The Society of Designer Craftsmen (founded by William Morris).  In 1984, He established his own business designing and making contemporary fine jewellery which was exhibited in galleries throughout the United Kingdom.

A few years later Michael spent time travelling in Asia. He settled in Australia, gaining valuable experience working in Sydney. Here he specialised in making one-off opal and diamond pieces.

Michael returned to the UK in 1990.  Now a highly skilled goldsmith, and began working for the well established Gold and Silver Studio in Queen Street. A fine independent jewellers in Bath.  After qualifying as a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain in 1996, he was given the opportunity of buying the business. The previous owners having established the Gold and Silver Studio from its workshop roots for over twenty-six years.

In 2006 Michael relocated to the current larger premises at 19 Northumberland Place. Where he renamed the business, Gold and Platinum Studio. Michael continues his bespoke work with the addition of two experienced goldsmiths and three qualified members of staff.
